Project Spartan is the code name for the new web browser that will be included with Windows 10. It has two main parts. The first is the new rendering mode. I regularly inform about its properties on this blog. In short, it’s all about compatibility; It’s about making the website work. The second part is the new user interface, which has 3 new essential features – the ability to scribble on the page, reading mode available on the desktop and improved suggestions containing Cortana suggestions.

Bookmarks have moved above the address field to the area behind which the window to move it grabs.

When you move the cursor over a bookmark, a preview of it appears.

At the top right there is a button that displays previews of all open pages as we know it from Modern Internet Explorer.

On the side, it will be possible to scribble with a stylus or touch.

It will also be possible to add comments or make page clippings.

The whole thing can then be shared as a raster image.

The desktop version will have a reading mode as we know it from IE for Windows Phone.

The page can be added to the Reading List app. From there, it will be possible to save it as a PDF file.

In addition to history and search results, suggestions from Cortana, a personal assistant, will complement the suggestions in the address bar.

Spartan will not be part of the preview build of Windows 10, which will be released in February. However, it will be part of later builds for both phones and desktops.
