Microsoft has released Office 2013 Customer Preview. At first glance, everything is the same, but there are more than enough changes under the hood. First of all, they should run on devices with ARM architecture processors. Secondly, there is better interconnection with Office 365. The user interface is still laid out in the same way. However, because it is all done in white, it is not visible where the content ends and where the control panels begin, which does not contribute to clarity.
Installation
Installation is fast even when the operating system is booted into Windows 8 on a VHD stored on the HDD. I strongly recommend setting the Outlook cache for 1 month. It starts much faster. Emails that are searched are searched in the same way on Exchange Server.
User interface
The background of emails is white, as in the case of text documents, so in combination with the white control panels, it burns the eyes on a 26” monitor and calls for an immediate reduction in brightness by at least 30%.
SkyDrive
Office can still access SkyDrive via HTTP+SSL protocols. It may seem unnecessary when the application of the same name is used to access SkyDrive, which also has its use outside of Office. However, this approach is important for opening Office documents directly from the web via a URI. This is important for the concept of the semantic web. In other words, in Visual Studio, you don't have to put Add Reference on some libraries that SkyDrive makes available to you.
Installation in the background
Office is installed in such a way that all optional parts are installed in instalovat při prvním použití mode. The foundation itself is installed quickly and can be used immediately. Meanwhile, components are being installed in the background. If the user needs to work with one immediately, it is installed preferentially.
Missing outline
From Windows 8, someone accidentally forgot to uncomment the line responsible for displaying the Start button. Similarly, someone from Word forgot about the layout of Osnova. This is key to moving larger pieces of text, displaying a clear document structure. Paradoxically, Rozvržení webové stránky, the meaning of which I have never understood, is still present. Instead of an outline, you can collapse and expand individual headings. However, it is not clear to me how this will be done for all third-level headings. Although the collapsed title moves with the text it contains, but in large documents I have to scroll for a long time before I reach my destination.
SkyDrive Pro
SharePoint Online has been renamed SkyDrive Pro. It is SkyDrive that is connected to SharePoint. However, you can still connect Office to both SkyDrive and SharePoint at the same time.
Edit a PDF
Word is able to open a PDF document and edit it. Perhaps too simply put, PDF is nothing more than vectors, and if a region represents a character, it is said in which area the character is located. Word then works with these characters, which it retrospectively projects into vectors. I very much welcome the ability to manipulate PDF documents, because some people have not yet learned how to save to Office Open XML.
Replying to emails in the main window
When replying to an email, a new window opened in previous versions, which did not add to the clarity. Outlook 2013 can dock the window into the main window.
Weather in Outlook
The calendar is enriched with a weather forecast. Very useful, but a longer-term forecast would also be useful.
